Blackrock Market, Dun Laoghaire and a bagel from Itsa

I went to Blackrock with a friend a few weeks ago to visit the market that takes place at the weekend. We expected the market to be bigger and take most of our afternoon but it’s actually tiny. I still took a few pictures of some cool looking vintage stuff.

We then headed to Dun Laoghaire for a nice walk. Try to make a French person who has just arrived in Ireland pronounce Dun Laoghaire, it’s quite fun! It’s one of these Irish names that are challenging for foreigners.

I love walking along the pier even when it's not so sunny, hey, this is Ireland if you wait for the sun to do things you won’t do much!

It was a freezing day and the weather changed every 10 minutes so I took many pictures with different skies. The sky is one thing I love about Ireland, the clouds, the light, it’s constantly moving and the sky colours can turn out truly amazing. Plus the rainbows, I’d never seen so many rainbows until I moved here.

We had a great walk along the pier, it’s quite busy at the weekend. People are jogging, walking their dogs or spending time with their families, Dun Laoghaire always looks like the perfect suburbian town to me.

We were hungry and wanted to sit outside so we headed to Itsa. I don’t eat bagels very often but I like the ones from Itsa. The one in Dun Laoghaire has a big seating area outside which was empty because of the wind but it didn’t stop us from enjoying the view and the sea air. I had my favourite bagel:  the Californian. It’s made of a delicious onion bagel with crispy bacon, avocado, lettuce, butter and a gorgeous basil mayo that moistens up the whole thing. I just love everything with avocado and bacon in it, it’s such a lovely combination!

Dun Laoghaire is always a good idea for a day out of Dublin, to breathe some fresh air outside the big smoke. Next time I’m out there I’ll have a full lunch. Do you have any places you like for lunch out there that I could try next time?
