Having grown up in France the one thing I miss these days are pastry shops, as my tastes in cakes have stayed very much continental. Don't get me wrong you can find good cakes here but they look 'homemade' and you have to go to fancy hotels and restaurants for more elaborate cakes.
One place that is good in Dublin for French style pastries is Cocoa Atelier. Their selection is very limited but they have Opera cakes, tarte au citron, salted caramel tarts and eclairs 'the French way' (they use flavoured pastry cream inside). They've had the coffee and the chocolate eclairs for a while now but they've recently upped their game with the addition of the pistachio eclair.
Oh my! The day I saw the picture of it on Facebook I had to go to try it. I've always wanted to make my own pistachio pastries but as I've never been able to find pistachio paste here I'm yet to try it. The Cocoa Atelier pistachio eclair was delicious, quite small but just enough to satisfy my sugar craving. The pistachio flavour delivers without being too strong, the choux pastry is light and the filling and icing on top aren't too sweet. If you like pistachio you will love this eclair!
It's priced at €3.40 which is really not bad compared to many slices of cakes you can find in Dublin. They don't have too many of them at the moment but if you're lucky enough to visit on a day they haven't sold out, give it a try!

This is an independent review, I paid for my eclairs.
