Eirgrid Euro-Toques Food Awards 2013

I recently attended the Eirgrid Euro-Toques Food Awards 2013 at Residence Club after winning a competition on Twitter.

What is Euro-Toques?

Created in Brussels in 1986, Euro-toques is a European organization preserving the European culinary heritage through a network of thousands of chefs across the European community. They focus on promoting artisan local food, preserving food traditions and promoting networking between members.

What is Euro-Toques Ireland?

Euro-toques Ireland was created in 1986 by Mirtle Allen from Ballymaloe House and with the assistance of commissioners John Howard of Le Coq Hardi in Dublin, Declan Ryan of Arbutus Lodge in Cork, and Gerry Galvin of Drimcong House in Galway. Euro-toques Ireland members are committed to the principles of seasonality, sourcing local food, knowing the origin of their ingredients, using high quality ingredients and supporting small and local food producers.

Who won the awards?
Sponsored by Eirgrid, the Euro-Toques Ireland Food awards 2013 took place at the Residence Club  Stephen’s Green, Dublin 2. Radio and TV broadcaster Ella Mc Sweeney hosted the ceremony during which awards were given to 5 innovative producers of traditional Irish products:
  • Mick Murphy, traditional Snap-net salmon fisherman on the River Nore, Co. Kilkenny – read full profile here

During the reception, attendees were served sumptuous canap├ęs made with the award-winning products  by Residence chefs and Euro-toques members Graham Neville & Peter Everett. I had a delightful afternoon enjoying great food and wine in a beautiful setting while chatting with professionals of the Irish food industry.
