Banter, The IMAGE.ie Blog Awards and Thank You Very Much!

I apologise. The blog has been very self-centred lately, I'm so sorry. I haven't published a review in a while but I'm working on it. I don't want to just recommend any old place for the sake of blogging, maybe I'm just becoming too picky (that's what Mr. FFID says). I promise normal service will resume from next week. This is the last post of this kind for a while, you know, until my new year's resolutions or something.

So apologies aside, last Wednesday was great. I wish every day was like it. I took part in Banter, a panel discussion about Dublin's new cafe society in the Twisted Pepper. Banter is a series of discussions produced by Jim Carroll from the Irish Times and Eoin Cregan from Bodytonic about lots of different subjects. I was part of the panel alongside Barry Stephens from 147 Deli, Maisha Lenehan from Bibi's and Aisling Rogerson from The Fumbally.  MC Jim Carroll made us feel at home: we talked about the new cafe openings in Dublin, the renaissance of the Irish food scene, the different trends and the cafe owners shared their inspiring journeys, experiences and thoughts. A podcast will be available here if you fancy listening to it.

After the talk, Mr. FFID and I rushed to Fade Street Social where the IMAGE.ie Blog Awards were taking place. I was extremely late when I got there, Donal Skehan was on stage and fellow blogger Jess told me I had just won Best Food Blog 2014. I think people thought I was a bit mad, I was still on a buzz from Banter, didn't realise I'd won, hugged and thanked Donal in French, had crazy hair (as usual) and looked like I was high. It's mad Ted!

So I just wanted to say THANK YOU. I was very honoured to be shortlisted by the people at IMAGE.ie, in great company on the finalist list with bloggers that I truly admire. I'm genuinely moved that people have taken the time to vote for FFID. I'm so happy that so many Dubliners care about what a French lady has to say about their city and their food, it makes me feel even more at home.

Life has been so good to me lately that each time I cross a road I'm extremely careful not to get run over. It's stupid I know but I just want to be able to see what the future is holding for me, especially after Mr. FFID's raffle win. Alright, life isn't always perfect and I'm writing from my bed as I have the flu but you don't really need to know that...

Now it's time to get back to the reason why you and I got here in the first place: food. I will post a review on Monday. Promise!

Thanks again, you're a great bunch of people!
