Allta was opened by chef Niall Davidson (previously from London's Shoreditch Nuala) at the end of 2019. It's actually pretty easy to miss it as it's located next to a car park entrance on Setanta Place.
It's not the usual cheese and cured meat combo you may find in old school continental wine bars, Allta is more of a small plate affair. In a pre-pandemic world, the menu featured house-made charcuterie, pasta and oysters amongst other fares. I actually never made it before the start of the pandemic, damn...During the Pandemic:
Allta's answer to the first lockdown was the Allta box, a meal box containing their own sourdough with shiitake miso butter, charcuterie, pasta dishes and other items as well as a bottle of wine for two people to share. They weren't able to reopen between lockdowns but have kept their meal box service ever since April, initially delivering nationwide and recently limiting it to a few counties. The menu and booking system are usually up on Mondays around mid-day but you need to have fast fingers as they sell out pretty quickly.

The menu is quite different to other restaurant boxes and varies often enough that you can order it again (Mr FFID bought it on two occasions).
The Shiitake miso butter alone makes the box worth buying. They should sell this commercially.
There's very little cooking to do, you don't need to be an experienced cook at all.
Allta has its own Spotify playlist, a lovely added touch to complete the experience (I kept listening to it the next morning).
