French Foodie in Paris: L'éclair de Génie, 14 rue Pavée, 75004 Paris

I'll never see eclairs the same way since my visit to L'Eclair de Genie in Paris. Talented Christophe Adam created an eclair heaven in the French capital, in one of my favourite areas of Paris, the Marais district.

L'Eclair de Genie doesn't look like your classic pastry shop, the decor is modern and contemporary with a yellow, black and grey colour palette. They mainly sell eclairs but also chocolate truffles and Christophe Adam's cookbooks.

They have just two seats in the shop, so you'll most likely have to carefully take your precious little box of sweet treats away.

The multitude of eclairs are beautifully displayed and look like true works of art. The glazings are colourful, smooth and beautiful, they're almost too pretty to eat.

Salted caramel, Raspberry, Coconut, Lemon, it's impossible not to find a flavour you love.

In many shops in Paris you can't take pictures but I was delighted I could. At €5-€6 an eclair, I couldn't afford to buy too many of them but we had to take at least 3, just to make sure they tasted as good as they looked.

Mr FFID carried our precious eclairs to the park, the sun was shining as we were about to reach eclair nirvana.

We bought the pistachio and orange, the salted caramel and pop corn and the raspberry-passion fruit. I loved their summery colours and thought they would be perfect on such a warm day.

We started with the pistachio and orange eclair which had delicious little pieces of orange confit on top. The filling was so creamy and soft, just amazing!

We then went to heaven with the fantastic passion fruit and raspberry eclair. Passion fruit is a flavour I love and upon biting the filling exploded with an intense maracuya flavour; it dripped all over our fingers but we were happy to lick them clean so as not to lose a drop of this sensational cream. Passion fruit matched so well with the raspberry: it was definitely the best eclair I've ever had.

We finished our tasting with the salted caramel and popcorn eclair which was my least favourite. The caramel topping entirely came off at the first bite, it was a bit awkward to eat. The salted caramel filling was divine though.

Now if you find yourself in Paris, forget about the usual chocolate or coffee eclairs, visit L’Éclair de Génie. New flavours are released seasonally and sometimes they create limited editions with the most amazing designs on them. Christophe Adam's pastries are absolutely amazing and will leave you wanting more.
