Lifestyle: Electric Picnic 2016

If you've been reading FFID for the last few years you know I'm a big fan of Electric Picnic. To be honest it was probably the thing I was looking forward to the most this year, after my wedding of course. And once again, it didn't disappoint.

So last week on the 1st of December I celebrated my 11 year anniversary in Dublin. My way of celebrating was to get a 7ft Christmas tree that takes up half the space in my living room and to decorate it with Mr. FFID while drinking a Christmas craft beer (Santa Paws by Brew Dog).

When I came back from my holidays last week I decided not to drink alcohol for a month and not to eat out. My 'detox' went pretty well for 4 days... I was ready to have a quiet evening at home on Friday when Ms. E asked to meet up. We could have gone for a cup of tea or to the movies but instead I just got too tempted by all the tweets coming from 777 so booked two tickets to their Day of the Dead Halloween party, I'm so weak when it comes to the temptation of margaritas.

When the weather is good in Dublin there's nothing Mr. FFID and I love more than a good picnic, you probably know this already if you follow me on Instagram.  I don't think I've ever planned a picnic more than a few hours ahead but I have some tips to help you make your picnic better than the average combo of egg mayo sandwich and a pack of Tayto.

Postcards from Paris

Last week, I spent three amazing days in Paris doing the things I love the most: eating and being with Mr. FFID. We spent three days eating non-stop, I swear, NON-STOP.

No Eiffel tower, Champs Elysées or other touristy landmarks for us, it was all about visiting bakeries, markets, chocolate shops and other foodie places that the city of light has to offer.

I had a proper catch up with a friend on Saturday afternoon. We decided to head to Malahide for a walk along the beach. The sky was grey but it was mild and so pleasant to breathe some fresh air outside the dirty old town. I'm from the middle of France, the landscapes are flat and boring,they look like an infinity of fields, it's far from the sea and the mountains so for me it's almost a privilege to live close to the seaside. Living here, I love to be able to walk on the beach, hear the seagulls, see the boats, pick up seashells, draw in the sand: I'm just like a kid really.

Au revoir 2012! Hello 2013!

I enjoyed this year for many reasons. First of all, it was my first year as an engaged lady since Mr. FFID proposed on Christmas day last year in France. It was also the year I stayed in some fancy hotels, visited a few amazing European cities and ate out in some lovely restaurants.

Being from France, you can imagine how I rolled my eyes the first time I was offered an Irish breakfast. I wasn’t used to the concept of eating something savoury and so filling. I could have never imagined myself eating bacon or sausages in the morning a few years back. Now I enjoy it from time to time, at the weekend or when someone from outside Ireland visits me, just to make them discover what a traditional Irish breakfast is. Also when Mr. FFID cooks his bacon on a Saturday morning I often get tempted by the delicious smell but the little French person in my head often says “Non, it’s good for your taste buds but not for your bottom!”.

It's finally here! I'm on my way home, well to France, even if I'm from there it isn't really 'home', Ireland is home after all these years, but France is my roots. I'm connected to both as equally.
